HPE announced that the Department of War’s Defense Information Systems Agency, a combat support agency, has granted HPE Production Other Transaction Authority, a 10-year performance period with a $931 million life cycle value, for a distributed hybrid multi-cloud solution to modernize their data centers.
The goal of this modernization project is to provide next-generation digital and Artificial Intelligence capabilities that will help deliver mission-critical results for warfighters at the pace needed by real-time, global operations. It will also upgrade DISA data centers.
HPE will install HPE Private Cloud Enterprise utilizing GreenLake, offering a secure, National Institute of Standards and Technology-compliant cloud environment with on-premises and air-gapped administration.
Through a single, hybrid multi-cloud platform, GreenLake will streamline DISA’s IT resource management across public and private clouds while guaranteeing a safe experience. The successful completion of a prototype by HPE, which started in 2024, provides the foundation for this production deployment.
“We’ve built GreenLake to deliver a secure, unified cloud experience, and we’re honored that DISA has selected HPE to extend those capabilities to create a sovereign cloud tailored to the agency’s mission-critical needs. With this secure hybrid, multi-cloud platform, DISA can deliver innovative, future-ready managed services to the agencies it supports that are operating across the globe,”
said Fidelma Russo, Executive Vice President and General Manager of hybrid cloud and CTO, HPE.
In addition to benefiting from improved AI and data analytics, the implementation will allow DISA to scale and expedite communications and application rollout. Numerous services and workloads will be supported by the private cloud.
DISA can manage on-premises and commercial cloud services using a single hybrid cloud control plane that supports multi-tenancy, virtual private clouds, and complete data privacy and protection through a zero-trust architecture due to HPE Private Cloud Enterprise’s on-premises and air-gapped management.
