Honeywell and Google Cloud Redefine In-Store Shopping

Honeywell announced the release of an AI-enabled retail solution created in partnership with Google Cloud and 66degrees. This solution uses Google’s Gemini and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform to revolutionize in-store shopping for merchants throughout the globe.

The Smart Shopping Platform makes in-store shopping more effective and pleasurable by making it simple for customers to find desired products, compare similar things, and swiftly find appropriate substitutes when products are unavailable.

“There is nothing more frustrating than roaming through a store unable to find the last item on your grocery list or forgetting the key part needed to complete a home repair.”

said David Barker, President, Honeywell Productivity Solutions and Services.

“The Smart Shopping Platform addresses these pain points, creating a better experience for shoppers. Retailers also benefit from an ‘out of the box’ AI solution they can implement without having to maintain a team of AI experts.”

A cloud-based technology called the Smart Shopping Platform establishes a smooth link between a retailer’s digital data and the actual store environment.

It provides individualized advice, real-time product information, and dynamic recommendations that mimic the ease of online shopping. It is based on Honeywell’s Mobility Edge hardware and software platform and is made possible by Google Cloud’s AI capabilities.

“The Smart Shopping Platform uses Google Cloud’s AI to turn Honeywell devices into intelligent companions for both shoppers and staff.”

said Jose Gomes, Vice President, Retail and Consumer Packaged Goods, Google Cloud.

“This collaboration integrates AI with specialized hardware to streamline operations inside the retail store and guide consumers through an efficient and delightful shopping journey. It’s a win-win that helps retailers increase basket size while building deeper customer loyalty.”

Customers who use the platform on a Honeywell for Android device, like the CS32 Personal Shopper, may instantly unlock personalized recommendations based on their past purchases, declared preferences, complimentary items, and available discounts and promotions by linking their loyalty accounts.

In order to make it easier for customers to find everything they want to buy, the Smart Shopping Platform can also offer step-by-step store navigation. The technology mimics the ease of e-commerce by using AI to provide appropriate substitutes when a particular product is out of stock.

By assisting retail employees in becoming internal experts, the solution also benefits them. With tools like the Honeywell CT70, associates may use the Smart Shopping Platform to give customers fast, personalized advice and insights, enabling each employee to act as a subject matter expert.

For instance, a staff member can promptly locate a customer’s preferred dairy-free cereal at the store. Thousands of retail employees at department stores, big box stores, specialty shops, major grocery chains, and more use gadgets like the Honeywell CT70.
